I really hope to get to the point where I can watch this before (I fear) it’ll disappear or be taken down for some reason - I watched one song and saw so many of my friends’ beautiful faces on the rail, their joyous expressions, and how electrifyingly dialed-in the band was with the fans… this leg of the tour just seemed to go higher and higher each night in terms of positivity and energy, that’s why it hurts to see it now.
I’ve pretty much come to terms with the idea that I won’t see them again this tour or possibly ever again - there are now rumors in Italian press that they will cancel the rest of the summer dates. I am definitely okay with that from their point of view. I cannot even fathom how they could countenance going back onstage right now and maintain that open emotional connection that is so palpable when you see them live. It’s too vulnerable-making and far too much to ask of people who give so much of themselves already.
